She / Her
Karen teaches 3D, drawing and ceramics at various galleries including N.C.C.D. The Hub and Tate Exchange and is an external moderator for the University of the Arts, London.
Karen was course leader for the Art Foundation course at Lincoln College of Art and Design and Newark College for many years. She has taught many creative people, which is why she is keen to support the ‘Of Many Circles’ project.
Since retiring from full time lecturing, Karen has returned to making her own work exploring materials, textures, surfaces. Forms are balanced, poised, with a regard to profile and surrounding space. The introduction of discarded elements, rusty bits of metal is a more recent departure. Forms are more abstract and barely suggest the concept of ‘birds’.
Karen graduated in 1981, after studying ceramics at Bath Academy of Art Corsham, then she established pottery workshop at the Millgate Folk Museum in Navigation Yard, Millgate. The Museum was a thriving hub for artists and craft makers.
