This project is realising a valuable international partnership between the East Midlands and China.

Rooted in the lives of working people it is developing skills, creativity and eco-innovation which minimise the environmental footprint of production and consumption. It encompasses sustainable materials, production processes, supply chains, and consumer behaviour seeking to identify alternative materials that are renewable and have a low environmental impact.

It aims to share skills in eco-friendly processes, to ensure fair labour practices, to contribute to sustainable and ethical practices.

‘Forming Threads’ is a project supported by The British Council that is facilitating knowledge sharing and skills transfer bringing together a coalition of designers, makers, academics and producers in the East Midlands, Xuzhou & Guizhou to explore innovative ways to ignite regional heritage through cross-cultural collaboration.
