An introduction to Boro (more accurately ‘Boro boro’), meaning ‘rags or tatters’ the art of repairing fabric using scraps and stitching.
In this taster workshop you will learn the hand sewing techniques for visible repair and some of the more decorative Sashiko stitches that make Boro repair so special.
Your tutor is Kay Davis, Coreset resident textile artist and costume maker, who takes her inspiration from textiles disciplines including Sashiko, Boro and Shibori.
Fabrics and papers will be provided for you and Kay will offer ideas as to how you can use your creations for Craft, Art and Fashion projects. T his workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers. No previous experience is required.
