DRIFT

Artist Daniel Rapley created Drift over 5 years using a collection of over 20,000 35mm photographic slide transparencies, sourced from house clearances.

By repurposing the technological waste of the last century, Daniel is encouraging us to think about the culture of disposability, the abundance of images that permeate modernity, and the collision of nature and culture.

Through this body of artwork he exposes parallels between media and memory, as each is subject to rapid obsolescence. The disorientating topographies he creates reflect a world out of joint, collapsing under the weight of human consumption.
